EU, ENSURE ACCESS TO SAFE AND FREE ABORTION FOR MILLIONS OF EUROPEAN WOMEN NOW
Across Europe, more than 20 million women do not have access to abortion.
It is unacceptable that in some EU member countries, like Poland, women are still dying from being denied abortions. In some, like Austria and Croatia, women have to pay for abortion. In some, like Italy, abortion is not accessible due to lack of providers. Women are forced to travel long distances or seek unsafe alternatives.
We decided to change this.
We submitted a European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) to the European Commission to make the EU fund abortion care for anyone in the EU who lacks access. Our proposal was officially registered on the 10th of April, making it possible for us to start collecting signatures around the 25th of April.
We need 1 million signatures and we want to gather them by June.
We want to be the fastest collection of ECI signatures in history, because women have been suffering for way too long. Because reproductive rights are basic health care and because the time for change is now.
We need you with us from day one! Together we can change the lives of millions.
